ASR (Auto Shredder Residue) recycling

Auto Shredder Residue or ASR recycling deals with all the light fractions left over from recycling End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs). This material also known as Shredder Light Fraction (SLF), auto or car fluff make up as much as 25 % of the ELVs weight and contains many different materials: plastics, rubber, glass, sand, textiles, wood, metals, and dust.

ASR recycling is the process of downsizing the material to sort out materials for recycling and/or produce a fraction suitable as alternative fuel. The most sought-after materials are various metals and plastics. Since many countries don’t allow metals and harmful fractions like PVC to be burned or put on a landfill, ASR recycling is an important part of car recycling.

ASR recycling solutions

We offer both standard and customized ASR recycling solutions depending on your requirements. The standard solutions have capacities from 1000 kg input/production hour and up, and these are typically the starting point when customizing solutions for specific input types, more or less automation, or sorting out different output fractions.

Mixed material from other shredding

Since ASR is a mixed material from other shredding processes with different presorting practices, it is important to sample the material to find the best ASR recycling solution for the specific customer. If there is a lot of foreign objects like stones, stainless steel, or plastics like PVC, it is important to incorporate machines that sort these out to avoid contamination of the metal and other plastics fraction.
